What to expect at London Tech Week
Jobs pledge, deep tech fund, hardware plan.
Good morning,
London Tech Week has become the key date in the calendar for policy and industry announcements and next week will be no different. The government will announce its AI hardware plan, launch the AI Economics Institute, host an AI Adoption Conference and is also working on a deep tech fund. I've got the latest intel on all that below.
Happening Today 📆
SXSW: OpenAI newbie George Osborne speaks at SXSW at 4:40pm on building national AI capability. Also on the agenda is Synthesia chief executive Victor Riparbelli.
Give us something to legislate: There will be a "short debate" in the Lords this afternoon (around 60 to 90 minutes) about the need for a cross-sector AI Bill. The debate has been secured by Conservative peer Christopher Holmes and 19 other peers are listed to speak. DSIT minister Liz Lloyd has the unenviable job of responding for the government.
