Growth Day: John Healey heads to the Midlands to give his first major speech as Chancellor where he'll set out the UK's economic ills and how the government can "turbocharge innovation". He'll announce a £150m fund through the British Business Bank to invest in "ambitious businesses" in northern England, including university spinouts. The Treasury held a roundtable for trade bodies last week asking for views on the government's economic direction.
Events: The News Media Association hosts an event at the FT's offices from 2pm on resetting digital competition. Speakers include the CMA's Will Hayter and Chi Onwurah. At 4pm ControlAI has a Westminster reception. The keynote is from Stuart Russell, professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley. In a similar vein, PauseAI has a speaking event in Parliament this morning with MEP Brando Benifei who helped steer the EU's AI Act through Parliament.
In Parliament: The Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy hears about AI and quantum's impact on defence at 4:30pm. At 3:45pm, day three of the Cyber Bill's committee stage starts.
