Accepted: The government said this morning it had accepted in full all 44 recommendations from a commission led by NHS doctors on how to regulate AI in healthcare. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has also opened applications for the third phase of its AI Airlock sandbox, backed by three years of funding.
Not today but: Andy Burnham will travel to Berlin on Thursday to meet German chancellor Friedrich Merz. The talks will focus on security and trade, building on the Kensington Treaty signed last July. That treaty pledged a regular "technology dialogue" between the two countries, covering R&D, tech adoption and regulation. A meeting on that is scheduled the following week.
In Birmingham: Shadow AI minister Ben Spencer talks about how Conservative values apply to tech policy in his party conference speech at 9:45am. Yesterday, shadow business secretary Julia Lopez warned against any AI Bill.
