Growing Pains
Plus Synthesia's answer to Mythos
Good morning and happy Thursday,
Politics is overshadowing everything this week and today will be no different, but rival leadership factions took a very brief respite to listen to the King's Speech yesterday.
There was a "Regulating for Growth Bill" to create AI testbeds, which the super smart readers of this newsletter have known about for a few days thanks to last week's exclusive π. That was part of a wider regulatory reform package, but attention has already turned to how Keir Starmer's government can get anything done.
Back in the real world, there are announcements from Synthesia and London Tech Week this morning, while Fractile also had big news yesterday.
Happening Today π
Forward planning: London Tech Week has announced the full line-up for its Founder's Stage. There will be 20 "unicorn" founders, including Alan Chang, of Fuse Energy, Wayve's Alex Kendall and Starling Bank founder Anne Boden. The programme opens on Monday June 8 with Tom Adeyoola, Executive Chair of Innovate UK, followed by AI minister Kanishka Narayan.
Deadline day: You have until midnight to get evidence into the Science, Innovation and Technology's inquiry on low-energy computing. The MPs will be looking at how technology like silicon photonics could reduce AI's energy demands.
Evening plans: London-maxxers are meeting up tonight.
